Data Processing

This article will cover how to process data using Collage Site.

Currently, the only data processing that can be performed in Collage Site is point cloud scan generation processing.

Process Scan(s)

After a scan is performed with your scanning instrument on site, or when a point cloud is upgraded in Collage Site, the scan process is automatically performed in the application. However if you would like to change the filtering settings or scan process settings later, you can use the Process Scan(s) function to process your scan data again.

  1. Select Process Scan(s) from the Workflow tab on the right panel.

  2. Select the station or stations that you would like processed from the list on the left side of the dialog box.

  3. Set the scan processing settings on the right side of the dialog box, and execute processing by tapping the Next button and following the prompt.

Process pointcloud: Turn on the check box to generate point cloud data.

Point cloud quality in 3D visualization: You can set the desired quality of the point cloud displayed on the viewer. A high quality setting may take a longer time to process.

Scan processing options: You can adjust your desired point cloud precision and density here.

Limit Distance: Scan data with a range exceeding the specified distance value will not be generated.

Edge Noise Reduction: Normally, scanning walls and edges of objects can introduce noise. This filtering function can help remove some of that noise. You can also set 3 levels of filtering intensity. If you get undesired results, try processing your scans again with a different intensity set.

Surface Smoothing: Smooths planar scan data.

Colorize point cloud: If you are capturing an image during scanning, you can colorize the point cloud data based on the pixel colors of the image.

Process panorama: Select the check box to perform panorama image generation processing. Set the image resolution and the radius distance for merging and joining multiple images.

Stray Points Filter: Only available with the CR-P1 unit. Filters out any points that are far away and not associated to the actual scan data.

Autodetect Targets: Only available with the CR-P1 unit. Will automatically detect and create Target layers in Collage Site for any checkerboard targets that are picked up during a full dome scan.
