How To Use Tools
This page will cover exactly how to use the different Tools that are available for use in Collage Site.
Collage Site is composed of a series of pages that are focused on different processes you will need to perform in the application. By default, when you open Collage Site it will take you to a dashboard page that shows your most recent projects. You can tap on the project tiles to open an existing project, or select a different page if you want to do something else.
Scanning and Importing scan data workflows in Collage Site creates what is called Layer data. These Layers come together and are overlaid on top of each other to ultimately create cohesive projects in the main viewer. You can manipulate and create layer data in various ways, which will be covered throughout this Knowledge Base.
By tapping the main logo button on top left of the screen, you can easily navigate through different pages of Collage Site.
Tapping on a project in the projects or dashboard page will open the project in the project viewer.
The project viewer has the following components on the screen:
Home and Status Bar (Top left): Use this to switch back to other pages and to connect to an instrument. Once connected to an instrument, it’s status is displayed(see next section).
Workflow Panel (Right Side): This panel will give you access to the layers in the project, settings that can be adjusted for the project or selected layers, as well as all workflows you can perform on a project in Collage Site. It is collapsed by default.
Tool Bar (Bottom):
This will show you all the contextual View tools, as well as other tools based on the workflow you’re currently in.
Floormap view:

In Collage Site, each Station represents a container for all of the information that you can collect with the instrument, at the location that you have it set up. A normal station that hasn’t been localized using control points looks like this:
While a station that has been localized using control points looks like this:
Also, scanner image is displayed on the top of station icon in case of current active station.
A Target in Collage Site represents a location in your project that was used for localizing a station. These targets could be placed on wall locations using specific markers, or be visible in your project wherever a prism was setup and used to get on control:
Control Points in Collage Site represent various survey points throughout your project that can be used to localize a station and get on control. In your project viewer, they look like small, labeled circles:
You can use the Panorama bubble in Collage Site to toggle on the image view. In this view mode you are able to see the images taken by the instrument as opposed to the point cloud data that has been gathered. To enter Panorama view mode, simply double tap/click on the purple dot that appears on a station - note that the purple Panorama dot will only appear if you had Imaging enabled for that scan/station. It is also important to call out that you are able to overlay your project point cloud data in this view type, including Elevation Heatmaps, by using the “See Image In Background” button:
You will also notice two additional buttons towards the bottom of your screen while you are in Panorama mode on the tablet. The first is the Move Panorama Manually button that looks like a hand - activating this tool allows you to use the touch screen to navigate around your panorama image as opposed to the gyroscopic navigation:
You also have the ability to overlay your point cloud on the panorma images by tapping the See Image in Foreground/Background button:
If you want to exit Panorama view mode, just switch view mode to Floormap or 3D view mode like you normally would.
Expanding the right panel will give you access to all of the settings and workflows for the project you are currently in. When expanded, you’ll see the following tabs:
The tool bar towards the bottom of the screen can help you control what you are viewing in the main Project viewer, as well as how you are viewing those data layers. It also gives you access to other tools that are contextually relevant to various Collage Site workflows such as a measure tool, sectioning tools, etc.
Tapping this button will zoom you to the extents of all points and vector data in the project.
You will see a selector panel option for lidar properties that you can use to adjust the visibility of your point clouds. You can change the colorization of point clouds as necessary using the options in the screenshot below.
Tapping this button will manage visibility of project data by data type. Unchecking one of these boxes will make the associated data disappear from the 3D viewer.
Tapping this button will split the view into two panes organized horizontally. This can be used to view a selected points list, features in an imported file, or sections / buffers of the point data.
These view mode buttons will let you set the view mode of the model environment in the window
Tools will allow you to use many of the same features as Collage Web.
