Connect To Scanner

This article will cover how to connect to your scanning instrument while using Collage Site.

When Collage Site is not connected to a scanning instrument you will see the icon below in the home and scanner status bar:

Before connecting to a scanning instrument, ensure that the Home screen (default screen) is displayed on the on-board screen of the scanner. Collage Site cannot connect to the scanner when any other screens are displayed on the on-board screen.

The sections below walk you through how to connect your tablet to each supported scanner using Collage Site.

GLS-2200, ESN-100, and CR-P1

To connect to a GLS series or ESN scanner, first you need to join the scanner’s wireless network using your windows network connection tool:

If you are unsure of the SSID (name) or password for your instrument’s wireless network, you will need to look at the scanning instrument itself. Go to your instrument’s on-board network settings, select WLAN settings, and look for the SSID and password you need to join the instrument’s network.

After the network has been successfully joined, switch back to Collage Site and tap the Scanner button in the status bar. Based on your network and bluetooth settings, Collage Site will automatically know which instrument you are attempting to connect to.

After you tap the Scanner button to connect, the application will attempt to connect to the scanner to send commands and transfer data over the wireless connection.

If it is successful, the icon will no longer show a red X. Instead, you will see various instrument status icons added to the top bar such as tilt, battery, and SD card.

With the GLS, the connection process usually takes 15 seconds or less.

If you wish to disconnect from the scanner, tap the Connect button while still connected. This will prompt you with a confirmation message so that you do not unintentionally disconnect.

GTL-1200

To connect to a GTL series scanner, first you need to turn on Bluetooth on both your tablet and the scanner. Then, add and pair the GTL as a new Bluetooth device from the Windows' settings. Once the tablet has paired with the scanner, you will see the S/N of the scanner listed in settings. If you are using Windows 11 OS and do not see the GTL as a pairable instrument in your Bluetooth settings, please ensure that your “Bluetooth devices discovery” option is set to ADVANCED in your Windows settings.

After the instrument has been successfully paired, switch back to Collage Site and tap the Scanner button in the status bar. Based on your network and bluetooth settings, Collage Site will automatically know which instrument you are attempting to connect to.

After you tap the Scanner button to connect, the application will attempt to connect to the scanner to send commands over Bluetooth and transfer data over the wireless connection.

If it is successful, the icon will no longer show a red X. Instead, you will see various instrument status icons added to the top bar such as tilt, battery, and SD card.

*With the GTL, connection can take up to 30 seconds. Please be patient while this is occurring.
