Create Markers & Views
The Create Markers & Views button can be found in the Scan Locations section of the ClearEdge3D tab and is a critical function to access most of the plugin’s tools. This tool’s base function creates Scanner Location Orbs at their proper location in the point cloud but within your Revit project. These Scanner Location Orbs can then be selected to unlock more of the plugin’s functionality.

Upon clicking the Create Markers & Views button a Create Markers & Views dialog will appear.

Markers and Views
Markers and Views will only be created for selected point clouds and/or scan locations from the given list. Click the plus icon for each loaded point cloud to expand its corresponding scan file list.
Selecting the Show All Instances radio button will populate the scans list with all of the point clouds and scan locations currently in the Revit project. Selecting the Show Selected Only radio button, however, will only populate the scans list with point clouds and scan locations based on your current selection in the Revit view.
Load Standard Symbol
The Load Standard Symbol option automatically loads a standard symbol for created Scanner Location Markers. This option will automatically be checked if there are no Generic Models present in the Revit Project. Otherwise, you can change the default symbol with the Scanner Symbol dropdown.
Load Standard Annotation
The Load Standard Annotation checkbox loads in default Point Cloud and Scan Location tags that can later be applied to Scanner Location Markers. You can change the default tags with the Point Cloud Name and Scan Location Name dropdown fields.
Create Scan Views
The Create Scan Views checkbox automatically Creates a Scan View for all selected Scanner Locations.
Worksets
The Workset section allows you to assign your created Scanner Location Orbs to your desired workset.
- Active will assign the Scanner Location Orbs to your currently active workset.
- Match Point Cloud will assign the Scanner Location Orbs to the same workset that your Point Cloud is assigned to.
- Existing: allows you to select the workset you would like to assign your Scanner Location Orbs to from your current worksets in your Revit Project.
- New: allows you to create a new Workset to assign the Scanner Location Orbs to.
There is also the Visible in All Views checkbox that is only relevant for the New: Workset option. If this checkbox remains checked, then the new workset you create will be visible in all views by default (thereby making the Scanner Location Orbs visible in all views by default). If you uncheck this checkbox, the workset will be Not Visible by default in all views. This can always be overwritten on a per-view-basis by accessing that Workset’s Visibilty/Graphic Overrides for that view.
