Model Tab
The Model tab will vary in both name and available tools depending on the active model currently selected in the Model Selection Pane.
Three toolsets in this tab are shared by all models, and will be shown in the ribbon regardless of the active model type: Model Display, Navigate and Points
Model Display
Model Display settings are available for Point Database(DB), Pipe, and Building models.
Note: Although the Model Display button will always show in the Model tab, it will have no effect when Structure, Duct, or Cable Tray models are the active selection, as there are no Display options available for these.
Navigate
This or space bar kicks you into Navigate mode.
Core of Navigation
Getting around EdgeWise’s 3D space can be extremely efficient, if used well. The first four commands you’ll want to use are going to be orbit, pan, zoom, and tilt.
Orbit only requires a simple left-click and drag. This will orbit your camera around whatever your current focal point is.
Pan requires a middle-mouse click and drag. This will lock your viewing plane and allow you to drag your camera within that 2D plane.
Zoom requires only scrolling forward or backward of your mouse wheel. Alternatively, you can right-click and drag forward or backward. This will push you closer, or pull you further, away from your focal point.
Tilt is performed by CTRL–left clicking and dragging. This will tilt the camera left or right within you current location.
The Focus Tool
Perhaps one of the most important tools to improve navigation efficiency is the Focus tool.
Right-click an object and select Focus, or hover your mouse over an object and press F. This will change your focal point to where you pressed F or right-clicked.
All other navigational tools will now stem from this new focal point. It’s IMPERATIVE to use this Focus tool to efficiently navigate in EdgeWise.
Points

Fig 1: Identify and Measure Tools
Identify
Allows you to identify a point’s XYZ coordinate—in the same coordinate system as the original scan—as well as the current color of the point. To use this tool simply click the button and then click a point within the viewing area.
Measure
Measures the distance between two selected points. To use this tool simply click the Measure button and then click a starting point within the viewing area. A line will now be drawn from the starting point to wherever the mouse cursor currently is. Now click a second point somewhere within the viewing area. A dialog will pop up telling you the distance between the points. You can adjust these display units under the Options menu in the upper-right corner of the application (Metric/Imperial Units).
Refresh Points
Only available in Manual Refresh mode, this button allows you to refresh all points in the current view.
