Installation & Setup
This section of articles covers Installations, Setup, and Licensing. This top article will specifically cover Installation.
Installation
To download the latest version of EdgeWise, click here for direct download, or visit our Software Updates page.
Installer Options
For most users, the default installer settings provide all necessary components. We recommend installing as administrator to ensure all necessary files can be placed.
Additional options include:
- Install Plant3D Plugin- check this box if you have purchased the Plant3D Addin option with your license. This option allows you to make use of the proprietary Plant3D Export from EdgeWise by installing our plugin in supported years of Plant3D.
- Force Install Licensing Environment- this is typically a troubleshooting option for existing users who need to update their licensing environment, or new users for whom the default install was not fully successful.
- Launch Licensing Utility- leave this box checked if you have an emailed activation code for a new software license. If you already have an active license, will be using a physical USB license key, or will be connecting to a network license, you can uncheck this box. See the Licensing articles for more activation information.
- Open Network IP Configuration Tool- if you will be connecting to a Legacy Network USB key, check this box to configure your connection to your license server.
- Force Install Sentinel Drivers- if you will be activating a Legacy USB key, check this box to install drivers necessary to the hardware key.
Silent Install
Ensure you have downloaded the EdgeWise installer from our website, and take note of where the installer is located on your machine. Please note you will need administrator rights to complete a silent install.
Command Prompt
- Open a command prompt As administrator and use the cd command to open the file path where the EdgeWise installer is saved.
- Start typing in the name of the installer .exe file, then press Tab on your keyboard to automatically fill the rest of the file name. Then, press space and add the /SILENT in order to perform a silent install.

You can also add other tags for additional functionality - to view some of these tags, visit this external link. The /SILENT tag will hide all dialogue boxes relating to the install and will only show an installation progress icon on the task bar. It is also important to note that a silent install will install EdgeWise for all users on the machine machine.
During the silent install, there will be folders named ClearEdge3D and EdgeWise created in your Program Files on your machine. These folders and their contents are required to stay in their set locations and unedited for EdgeWise to function correctly.
Silently Install an EdgeWise License
In order to silently install a software license for EdgeWise, first ensure that you have installed EdgeWise on your machine.
- Open a command prompt As administrator and use the cd command to open the path to C:\Program Files\ClearEdge3D\EdgeWise\Tools, where the EdgeWiseLicenseInstaller.exe should be present after EdgeWise is installed.
- Enter the following command, where the will be the unique license activation code that would have been provided to you by ClearEdge3D:
.\EdgewiseLicenseInstaller.exe /APPLYCODE=""
