This article will cover all steps for activating a new Standalone (local) software key for EdgeWise. If you’re looking for the steps to activate a different license configuration, please refer to the chart below.

A license’s valid time period will not affect initial activation steps, but updating the maintenance on a perpetual license will require steps similar to network license activation. Please see the Updating Perpetual Maintenance article for more information.
Standalone Software Key Activation
Standalone keys are designed for one-time activation on the computer where EdgeWise will be used. Upon creation of the license, an email is sent by our licensing administrator containing basic installation and license activation information.
EdgeWise Installation & Applying Activation Code
EdgeWise will need to be fully installed prior to license activation. To download the most recent version, click here.
Unzip the installation package, then right click on the installer and Run as admin. We recommend using the default Setup options, including the Launch Licensing Utility checkbox.

Once installation is complete, the EdgeWise License Installer window will appear. This is where you can copy and paste the emailed activation code.

If you already have an EdgeWise license on your computer, you will first see this dialogue:

Please select No if you are only updating your EdgeWise version and do not need to activate a new license.
Please select Yes if you need to activate a new license and have received the activation code via email.
If you have already installed EdgeWise prior to receiving your license activation code, you can access the EdgeWise License Installer at this file path:
C:\Program Files\ClearEdge3D\EdgeWise\Tools\EdgewiseLicenseInstaller.exe
Once you have successfully entered the activation code, you will see a confirmation dialog noting the expiration date of the license and an option to open the Knowledge Base (User Guide):
